Laurie Puhn has a private practice in family and divorce law and mediation. She is the best-selling author of "Instant Persuasion," a well-known relationship communications expert and TV host of "i on NY," who appears regularly on Fox News Channel, Good Day NY, CNN, Weekend Today in NY, Rachael Ray, Hallmark Channel and Court TV/TruTV, among other programs. She is a contributing expert to First Wives World and Match.com's magazine.
With a B.A. and law degree from Harvard, where she served on the Board of the Harvard Mediation Program, her in-depth legal and relationship communications analysis of celebrity divorce cases, current events, politicians' communication blunders and controversial studies on relationships and culture has been featured nationally in Redbook Magazine, The New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, Shape, Maxim, Self, Real Simple, Good Housekeeping, Martha Stewart Living and MSN.com, among other outlets.
Ms. Puhn hosts WPXN’s TV show “i on New York,” where she interviews celebrities and extraordinary individuals who’ve overcome obstacles and serve as notable examples of self-empowerment. To date, she has interviewed such luminaries as Cheryl Ladd, Carson Kressley, Former NJ Governor Christie Todd Whitman, NYS Chief Judge Judith Kaye and James Naughton, among others.
A private practice attorney-mediator in New York, with offices in Upper East Side of Manhattan, she is a member of the New York State Bar Association's Family Law Section and has multiple professional certifications from the Center for Mediation and Training, Queens Mediation Services and the Harvard Mediation Program.
A leader in the field of turning conflict to conversation, Ms. Puhn authored INSTANT PERSUASION: HOW TO CHANGE YOUR WORDS TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE, which was a finalist for the 2005 Books for a Better Life Award and has been translated into foreign languages.
Through the Laurie Puhn Institute she speaks nationwide on communication, persuasion, mediation and workplace conflict resolution to audiences at Fortune 500 companies and associations. A member of the National Speakers Association, her clients include Verizon, National Association of Broadcasters, Entrepreneur's Organization, Lord & Taylor, Merrill Lynch, Portland General Electric, NJ Association of Realtors, among others.
Laurie was the spokesperson for T-mobile in 2007 appearing in their national television, radio, print and on-line publicity campaigns.
She was honored with the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Award by the Nassau County Commission on Human Rights and her name is inscribed on the Town of North Hempstead's Women's Roll of Honor. She resides in New York City with her husband.
